INSTRUMENT SETS

The convention for sizing a set square is to measure the length of the long side (the hypotenuse) on the 45º set square. This means a 32cm set square will have a 21cm short side. Manufacturing restrictions may shorten the 32cm length slightly as the point may be removed. The 32cm 60º degree set square is produced to be compatible to the size of the 45º but does not have a 32cm length at all. Guidance on the sizes can be see by looking at the sizes on the blue PLEX range.

A useful good sized set of drawing instruments made to an excellent price but reflecting Bertram quality.
Set consists of 1 x 45º set square and 1 x 60º set square. The 45º set square is 30cm along the longest edge. Plus a 30cm ruler marked in millimetres and a 12cm protractor. Milled and individually marked with mechanically engraved recision figures. Cut from 2mm thick blue sheet plastic. There is a raised inking edge on the 2 unmarked sides on the set squares and on the unmarked edge of the ruler.

This is set is ideal for the student drawing on A3 size paper. Everything you need including an A3 drawing Board complete with a professional quality parallel motion, 2 drawer board clips to hold your paper and a set of instruments. The table prop which inclines the board to the correct working angle also doubles as a carrying handle. You might consider a carry case to complete the set.
The aluminium reversible parallel motion has perpex edges which are marked 1:1 ;1:2 in centimetres and the reverse edge has 1:5, 1:2.5 for scaled drawings. It takes 10 seconds to unscrew the ruler from the sliding carriage with the metal to metal fittings(see picture) and the same to refit.
The edges of the rule are "captured" to ensure continuing stability.
There are 2 rubber feet on the front edge to give a good grip to the working surface
The ruler blade is similar to the scales we supply with top of the range drafting machines. The aluminium centre gives strength whilst the clear perspex ruler edges allow you to see your drawing. The markings are engraved on the underside so they will not rub off. The perspex inking edges are raised from the board so that your drawing ink will not smudge.
