Longridge is a British manufacturer of high quality mount cutters. Based on the Isle of Wight their mount cutters are easy to use, reasonably priced and yet produce mounts of extremely high quality. MD Chris Longridge has been in in the mount cutter market for many years and became frustrated with the quality and functionality of those available on the market. The design criteria has been:

The Duo is a complete mountcutting system perfect for photographers, artists, stitch crafters and many other hobbyists. It has everything needed to cut professional quality bevel edged mounts with consistent ease and accuracy.
Photographers producing competition mounts for photographs and the club rules are up to a maximum of 400 x 500 should select the Midi version

The vertical cutter and integral squaring facility in the base allows you to cut the mountboard sheet down to size squarely and accurately. The combination of the mount stop and the bevel cutter stops ensures perfectly cut beveled edge windows with no over cutting in the corners.

The Trio is a complete mountcutting System with all the features and benefits of Duo System mount cutters, but with the added facility of a parallelogram (double parallelogram in the case of the Maxi) . This makes marking out and cutting borders quicker, especially for the repetitive cutting of multiple mounts. This makes it ideal for light professional use as well as by keen enthusiasts who want the extra ease offered by the parallelogram facility.
The Trio is especially popular with photographers who often work with standard sizes of artwork.

As with all Longridge Mount Cutters, the Trio is engineered to exacting specifications to ensure the cutter glides easily and smoothly along the Guide Rail ensuring crisp bevel edges cut precisely to size.

Accessory Introduction
To complement our range of mountcutters, we stock a comprehensive range of spare components and consumables. This ensures that any component can be replaced should it ever be lost or damaged. If you need to cut larger mounts than your current model permits, then you need only upgrade the Guide Rail and Base, and continue to use your existing cutters.
If both right handed and left handed users are likely to be using the same mountcutter system, we strongly recommend that an additional bevel cutter is purchased. It is not practicable to keep changing the setting for different users on a regular basis.
The blades are the same for both the vertical and bevel cutters. Always ensure the blade you are using is sharp as this is essential for a perfect result. Blades are double pointed and each will normally cut at least 20 mounts.
There are also a range of accessories that while not essential, can make the production of the perfect bevel window that little bit easier to attain. For example a burnishing bone is ideal for flattening any slight imperfections in the surface of the cut mount and the Corner Gauge makes marking out a simple decoration around the window extremely easy.

The cutting substrate for bevel cutting has in the past been a spare piece of mountboard – used by default, not by design.

The core of mountboard is a random criss-cross of fibres which cause drag, resistance and distortion when bevel cutting; its surface is not flat so does not provide full support for the cutting line.
The specifically designed SprintMat has all its fibres in the same direction as the cutting line and its especially laminated flat surface gives superb support providing the perfect substrate for the blade to cut into - makes for cleaner more precise bevel edge windows with minimal effort.

Longridge Spare Blades for Bevel and Vertical cutters

Ref: BLADES

Premium quality blades are dry. Lesser quality blades have to be oiled and packaged in moisture resistant paper to prevent rusting. Oiled blades will leave a residue on the mountboard for several cuts. They do not have the same level of sharpness and so require more effort when cutting through mountboard.

Longridge 3 in 1 Bevel Cutter (L036)

The Longridge bevel cutter is at the heart of all Longridge mount cutting systems. Its unique design means that minimal effort is needed to achieve a precise and clean cut. It is comfortable to use, even for extended periods when cutting a large number of mounts. (Blades not included.)

The bevel cutter will cut mounting board up to 1.8mm thick. (Standard mounting board is 1.3mm thick and white core acid free conservation board is 1.5mm to 1.6mm thick).

The bevel cutter can be set for either right or left handed use making it fully ambidextrous. However, since it is not practicable to keep changing the set of the blade, we do strongly recommend ordering a second bevel cutter if both right and left handed people will be using any Longridge Mount Cutting Systems regularly.
The current 3 in 1 V profile bevel cutter not only cuts bevelled edges in mountboard but also decorative V Grooves and greeting card apertures.

Same comfortable grip and innovative cutting technology as the bevel cutter. Blades not included.
Hooks onto Guide Rail for cutting mountboard sheet to size - the tip of the blade falls into the groove in the Base so that the mountboard sheet is cut cleanly.
Should only be used when Guide Rail is fitted to the Base - the channel in the Base accommodates the tip of the Vertical Cutter blade preventing damage to both the blade and work surface.

To upgrade from a Solo to a Duo System you will need both Vertical Cutter and a Base.
Designed for right and left handed use.
